Three-day Workshop for making healing maracas?
The shamanic maraca for healing is an ancestral musical instrument found in most traditional shamanic societies. In Colombia there are many such traditions and each of them does have their own version of the rattle.
The maraca that we will create in this workshop is a personal synthesis of some of these traditional versions, a synthesis which results from a long and thorough process of shamanic research.
In 1993, Juan España (1974) began his spiritual quest in Putumayo, the High Amazonas of Colombia. This exploration was soon to take shape in the construction of musical instruments and shamanic objects for healing and ritual. Juan’s work follows the inspiration and teachings of sacred plant medicines. His instruments aim to carry a beneficial vibration at different levels.
In his view the maraca answers to the cosmological model of the Sacred Masculine and Feminine and connects the user of the instrument to the heart of the Ancestral Mother and Father. Under this premise, the maraca is an extremely valuable tool in the search for medicine, in the transmutation of energy and in personal transformation.
Therefore, this workshop also focuses on crystals and medicinal plants, healing techniques, traditional prayer, consecration and specific shamanic techniques.
This workshop is for people with an interest in shamanism. Each participant must bring a pair of scissors or a pocket knife and tobacco (and minimal technical skill).
The workshop begins Friday night at 18:00 and ends Sunday afternoon around 16:00. The price is 200 euros, accommodation and all meals included. The workshop will take place in Spanish and is translated into English.

Friday:
Arrival from 17:00

Opening, presentation, ritual fire and preparatory work with the crystals.
Saturday:
Morning: Polishing and curing the wooden handle. Sacred fire.
Afternoon: Engraving of the round body of the maraca
Evening: Assembly of the maraca. Sacred fire.

Sunday:
Morning:
Teaching prayer for healing for the specific use of the maraca, as part of the creation myth of the man (according to the Sikuani people).
Learning the shamanic technique of the "soplo” (blowing).
Consecration of the maraca with the Sacred Fire.
Learning healing techniques with the maraca.
Afternoon: Concluding circle.
