The power of the Dreamcatcher is in its "Do-It-Yourself" character and giving the object your intention(s). You can add what you want to the Dreamcatcher, such as an object of power, the image of your totem animal, a tooth, a stone, special feathers...whatever has special meaning for you.
A Dreamcatcher is a symbol originally used by the native Indians of America. There are several legends about Dreamcatchers, and all are associated with the theme of the spider web. The circle of the web represents the circle of life. Originally the Dreamcatcher was hung over the bed to capture good dreams and so save them. The bad dreams would disappear and the owner of the Dreamcatcher would no longer have them.
For the Indians, Dreamcatchers are part of their faith, as is the belief in "the Great Spirit" and the worship of "Mother-Earth". A Dreamcatcher is not just a pretty pendant. It is important to make your own Dreamcatcher.
